Dear Safca,
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, the Knight Advocacy Group - NB Doulas, and the individual donors who made it possible for me to receive birth support. After being diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma at 21 weeks pregnant, there was a lot of uncertainty about how the pregnancy would progress, and for how long I would be able to carry my baby because of the cancer treatments that I needed.
Having access to a birth doula was such a blessing and played a significant role in enabling me to have a wonderfully positive birth experience. Toni and Erica were tremendously caring and supportive and made such a difference during what has been a very challenging time.
Our sweet baby girl was born at 34 weeks 4 days weighing 4lbs 6.9oz. After 21 days in the hospital, she is finally home and is a strong, healthy baby. I have a long road ahead of me as I continue my cancer treatment, but it is a tremendous relief to have my baby girl here safely. This is my first child, and navigating the many unknowns during my pregnancy and through labor and delivery was greatly aided by the support I received through this generous gift. I am truly grateful. Thank you!
